The 1958 classic film ‘Some Like It Hot’ (PG) starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, listed by the American Film Institute as the Greatest American Comedy of All Time. Free tickets for this special screening available at the Village Store or The Red Lion from Monday 7 May (up to 4 per person).

2–6pm | Ilmington Manor | ‘The Fifties, Ilmington Remembers’

Courtesy of Mr. Martin Taylor. The Manor opens its doors to a trip down memory lane for a fun exhibition of Ilmington’s very own treasure trove of 1950s memorabilia.  Come and see the Hornby Dublo in action, the frock that went to Buckingham Palace plus much more besides!  Suitable for all ages.

Opening night of our Community Play written by Mark Currey and starring a village cast who will whisk you back to the vintage days of the 1950s. Based on the memories of those who lived here sixty years’ ago and featuring popular live music and radio of the era. Free tickets (maximum four per household) available at the Village Store from Monday 14 May.

Friday 1 June

1.30pm | Ilmington School | May Day Celebrations

Join the traditional festivities as the children perform the time honoured dances and ceremony of Ilmington May Day and the crowning of the May Queen.

7.30pm | Village Hall | ‘Magic Moments’

Promising you a night to remember at this second performance of our Community Play. Featuring a host of familiar faces recreating the days when HM The Queen came to the throne. Book your free tickets at the Village Store from Monday 14 May.

7.30pm | The Red Lion | Karaoke Evening

Sing along to some chart topping favourites from the past in the cosy atmosphere of Percy’s bar.

Saturday 2 June

2–6pm | Ilmington Manor | ‘The Fifties, Ilmington Remembers’

Another chance to enjoy this special Jubilee exhibition of village memorabilia. Spot the Fifties babies and brides, the shoe that met Victor Sylvester and the designs that wowed the world of fashion! A chance to see what the children of Ilmington primary school think about the Fifties too.

2pm | The Playing Fields | Veterans Football Match

The beautiful game provides an afternoon of entertainment.

7pm | The Howard Arms | Live Music

Enjoy the band in the garden (weather permitting). Pimms tent available.

7.30pm | Village Hall | ‘Magic Moments’

Last night of the Ilmington Jubilee play, with tales of privies and pig sticking, dansettes and motorbikes, stilettos and Brylcream. Time travel back to the Fifties as the cast reenacts life in the days when ‘we’d never had it so good.’ Free tickets (maximum four per household) available at the Village Store from Monday 14 May.

Sunday 3 June

11am | St Mary’s Church | Jubilee Service

Led by the Reverend Chris Goble with the Ilmington Festival Choir.

1–5pm | Front Street | The Big Lunch

Join communities across the UK for this special celebratory street party, with tables from Lower Green to Washbrook Place. Bring your own food and drink.

2–6pm | Ilmington Manor | ‘The Fifties, Ilmington Remembers’

Who not wander up to the Manor for an intriguing tour of our Jubilee exhibition? View the vintage tractor, meet Muffin the mule and play spot
the schoolboy!

7pm | The Playing Fields | Proms in the Park

Bring your own food or enjoy the pig roast at this evening of music from the AD Concert Band, fireworks and disco.

Bank Holiday Monday 4 June

1–5pm | The Playing Fields | Children’s Party

Games and events for all children aged 16 and under. Bring a plate of food per child for tea at 2pm. There will be a commemorative Diamond Jubilee mug for every child.

2–6pm | Ilmington Manor | ‘The Fifties, Ilmington Remembers’

Pay a Bank Holiday visit to this unique display of vintage 1950s treasures from village lofts and attics in its special historic setting.  

7.30–10pm | Village Hall | The Jubilee Fifties Dance

A night of fun creating the dances of old and featuring the sounds of Victor Sylvester, our live skiffle group, Fifties singers and rock n’ roll band.  Fifties dress preferred! All welcome.

10–10.30pm | Foxcote Hill | The Jubilee Beacon and Parade

Courtesy of the Foxcote Estate. Join the lighting of the beacon followed by a torchlight procession back into and around the village.

Bank Holiday Tuesday 5 June

From 2pm | The Playing Fields | Family Fun Afternoon

Time for Family games, the judging of the scarecrow competition and the Parade of former May Queens. Come and join the fun; prizes to be won!
